Dr Rob Smorfitt

One of Rob's favourite memories is standing on a hillside overlooking the 30,000 to 40,000 hectares of greenhouses in Almeria, Spain, one of the largest concentrations of commercial agriculture in the world. For someone fascinated by entrepreneurship, business systems and economic development, it was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through vision, innovation and persistence.

Rob has a unique background that combines corporate experience, entrepreneurship and academic research.

After seven years corporate marketing and selling of technology , he spent more than 45 years as an entrepreneur, building experience across a wide range of industries and business models. During this time, he started, bought, sold, merged, franchised and, where necessary, closed businesses that were no longer performing. In total, he has been involved in more than 90 businesses.

His passion for business development led him to pursue advanced studies, completing both an MBA and a PhD focused on entrepreneurship and business development.

Since completing his PhD in 2008, Rob developed a comprehensive range of materials designed to assist three types of client - Shareholder, Corporate Management and Entrepreneurs. The products are designed to enhance business growth, scaling and profitability through human capital, business development and where necessary entrepreneurship.

Rob is recognised as a lateral thinker with particular strengths in strategy, and strategic marketing and business development. His combination of practical experience and academic research enables him to bridge theory and real-world implementation.
